Team Eligibility

Each team must include 2–4 participants.

This challenge is open to everyone, including students, recent graduates, professional developers, hobbyists, makers, and career changers. No enrollment is required, and participants do not need to work in tech.

Teams must be able to attend DevFest in person in Windsor, Ontario, on [DATE] to participate in the competition.

Not all teammates are required to participate in every element of the competition.

In-Person Pitch Presentation

Format: 10-minute live pitch + 5-minute Q&A

Deliverables & Expectations

Refined Slide Deck

Teams must revise their Phase 1 slides based on judges’ feedback. Slides should be visually clear, concise, and polished for a professional setting. The revised proposal should demonstrate improvements in:

  • Problem framing
  • Solution feasibility
  • The fit between the Windsor-Essex problem and the on-device approach
Live Prototype Demonstration

Teams must demonstrate a functional prototype during their pitch. The prototype must run on the device in the room, such as a phone, laptop, single-board computer, or other edge hardware brought by the team.

Teams should:

  • Demonstrate the prototype working without a network connection by using airplane mode or otherwise disconnecting from the internet.
  • Clearly show where Gemma is doing the work.
  • Demonstrate how the solution addresses the Windsor-Essex problem identified in the proposal.
  • Bring all required hardware, cables, and adapters.
